The 22nd Pact for Skills in Tourism Coordination Meeting took place on the 16th of January 2025, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the latest developments and strategic actions aimed at strengthening skills and workforce resilience in the tourism sector.
The meeting commenced with opening remarks, outlining the purpose of the session and reinforcing housekeeping rules to ensure an effective and structured discussion. This was followed by key insights from PANTOUR, where Fernanda Lima Rabelo presented the Strategic Insights for the Tourism Skills Action Plan (2026–2036), providing a forward-looking perspective on skills development in the industry. In parallel, Klaus Ehrlich introduced the Skills Lab pretest, designed to assess and refine training methodologies to better align with industry needs.
An update on the Pact for Skills in Tourism was then provided, featuring a policy briefing from the European Commission’s Elfa Ķere, who highlighted recent progress and initiatives supporting the sector. Additionally, Alexandra Green introduced newly available support services, aiming to assist stakeholders in implementing effective skills development programs.
The meeting continued with an internal session on PacTS4ALL, where new Large-Scale Partnership (LSP) members—Costa Cruise Lines, APIT Moldova, and DG EMPL—were officially introduced. The LSP report for 2023/2024 was presented, summarizing key achievements and milestones from the past year. Looking ahead, the Action Plan for 2025 was outlined, emphasizing strategic priorities to enhance workforce training and industry collaboration.
Participants were also briefed on a series of upcoming events relevant to tourism skills and workforce development. These include the PANTOUR webinar on January 16 (16:00 CET), the TOURing toolkit presentation on January 17 (13:00 CET), and the PacTS4ALL roundtable at FITUR in Madrid on January 23 (15:00 CET). Further engagements include the Erasmus+ 2025 call info webinar by DG EMPL on January 28 (14:30-16:00 CET), the Tourism Talks event on February 26 (11:00-13:00 CET), and the ITB Stand from March 3-6 (Hall 4.1 – 306).
The meeting concluded with a reminder that the next Pact for Skills in Tourism Coordination Meeting is scheduled for February 13, 2024. Following the session, attendees were invited to join the PANTOUR webinar on Empowering Tourism with Skills Intelligence Monitoring (16:00–17:30 CET), offering further insights into data-driven strategies for workforce development.
